The district branch of the Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association organised a demonstration here on Monday demanding that the district administration and the police initiate action under the Hospital Protection Act 2008 against those who had attempted to assault a duty doctor at Government Hospital in Manapparai recently and obstructing him from treating a patient.

The demonstration held in front of the Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Headquarters Hospital here was led by the Association’s district branch president S. Selvapandian and secretary G. Mohandoss. The doctors urged the State government to provide adequate security facilities and maintain secret surveillance at the government hospitals.

Doctors of Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Headquarters Hospital, Tiruchi, K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College, Tiruchi, ESI Hospital, Taluk hospitals and Primary Health Centres took part in the one hour-long demonstration.
