February 06, 2018 05:30 pm | Updated 05:30 pm IST

Governor Banwarilal Purohit is expected to review the progress of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) activities in Tiruchi on February 21.

This will be his first official visit to Tiruchi since he assumed office in October 2017, though he had visited Tiruchi en route to Thanjavur recently.

Mr. Purohit is expected to take stock of the functioning of micro-compost yards, besides taking part in a cleanliness drive in the city.

Confirming his visit, a senior official told The Hindu that the success of micro-compost yards, which is touted as one of best practices of solid waste management in the State, would be explained to Mr. Purohit.

Mr. Purohit will also take part in the 34th annual convocation of Bharathidasan University on the day. He will preside over the convocation to be held in the convocation hall at 10 am. It will be the first convocation ceremony since Vice-Chancellor P. Manisankar assumed office in January.
