A large number of poor Christian boys and girls who have just completed their Plus Two study evinced keen interest and took part in the fortnight-long free residential summer programme organised by ‘Thozhamai' comprising Catholic professionals and Entrepreneurs Forum of Tiruchi Diocese from April 18 to May 2 at Campion Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School.
Rev. Antony Devotta, Bishop of Tiruchi Diocese and Rev. Bro.Jesuraj, principal of Campion Anglo Indian HSS, who inaugurated the programmes of English communication and personality development, said that it was a boon for the poor students to equip themselves very well.
Antony Louis, PG assistant of St. Arockia Annai Higher Secondary School, Keeranur, one of the resource persons of the programme and also in charge of cultural events, said that as many as 183 poor Christian students (115 girls and 68 boys) registered their names and were provided food and shelter. The teachers of Campion Anglo Indian HSS are taking classes for these students on spoken English, communication skill, computer training, film analysis, current affairs, etc. Besides, yoga classes are being conducted in the morning, sports and games and diary writing in the evening.
He pointed out that the performance of the students in each subject was being evaluated every day and special training was provided to needy students. A common session on various topics is also being conducted every day followed by drama and cultural events. S. Eranimous and Sister Sahayamary of Holy Cross College are also taking up coaching classes for the students.
