A painting competition on ‘Developing India’ organised as part of Children’s Day celebrations by the Anna Science Centre – Planetarium here on Friday, evoked a good response among school students.

It was a riot of colours and students from eight schools in and around the city were quite at ease in presenting their ideas on various aspects or the growth of the country. Environmental conservation as suggested by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was one of the important subjects of the paintings.

A. Shanmugam, plastic surgeon, distributed the prizes to winners. I.K. Lenin Tamilkovan,

Project Director of the Planetarium, said that the competition aimed at encouraging children’s creativity.
