Gas-laden container skids in canal

A gas-laden private container of Indian Oil Corporation slid in a canal here at Kuruvipaadi at Keezhvelur on Thursday night.

The container carrying 17.5 tonnes of gas from the IOC filling station at Muttam was proceeding to a station at Mannargudi. However, there was no leakage from the container, said a fire service officer. The container remained stationed for the past 24 hours for want of cranes to jack it up.

The Nammakal-based owner of the private container has been informed, Santosh Kumar, Superintendent of Police told The Hindu .
