About 164 weavers from Tiruchi, Karur, Namakkal, Dindigul and Kumbakonam received free accessories for their looms here on Wednesday. The accessories, totally worth Rs.11.35 lakh, were handed over to the beneficiaries by T.P.Poonachi, Minister for Khadi and Village Industries, in the presence of R.Manoharan, Chief Government Whip, and District Collector K.S.Palanisamy. Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Poonachi said about 530 weavers in other regions have been given free accessories worth Rs.18.65 lakh.
“Don’t stray into shooting range”
District Collector K.S. Palanisamy has cautioned people against straying into the Veeramalaipalayam shooting range in Manapparai taluk on Friday and Saturday when Army personnel are expected to train at the range. People are advised not to let out their cattle for grazing in the range from 7.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Mr. Palanisamy said in a press release.
Quiz competition
Dextrasys Technologies Private Limited, a city-based Knowledge and IP Services company, organised a quiz competition on Tuesday as part of the World Intellectual Property Day celebrations. Muthukumar Ramalingam, Chief Executive Officer, and Manohar Jha, Director, Dextrasys, gave away the prizes to the winners of the quiz on intellectual property.
