Four killed in separate accidents in Tiruchi

Four persons, including a couple, were killed in two road accidents on the national highways in the district in the early hours of Monday. A group of people was travelling in a car to Madurai from Chennai when one of its front tyres suddenly burst near Konalai along the Chennai-Tiruchi national highway. The driver lost control and the vehicle overturned causing the death of R. Rajaram (40) and N. Shabhana Aazmi (32), both from Madurai. Three other occupants suffered injuries. Siruganur police have registered a case.

The second accident occurred on the Tiruchi–Madurai national highway when a car rammed a stationary Omni bus near Nagamangalam.

V. Jayapal (58) and his wife J. Elizabeth (54), both from Tiruchi, and occupants of the car died.

The bus was parked on the roadside and one of its tyres was being changed when the incident occurred, police sources said. Manikandam police are investigating.
