Four persons were killed and two injured in a road accident involving a truck and a tipper lorry on the Tiruchi–Madurai national highway near here on Saturday. The drivers of both the vehicles died.
The dead were identified as A. Muthukrishnan (55) of Tiruvannamalai and D. Palanisamy (24), D. Chandran (22) and S. Poovalingam (33), all from Pudukottai district.
The truck carrying iron rods was on its way to Fathima Nagar from Tiruchi when the brick-laden tipper lorry coming on the opposite direction on the wrong side of the highway collided head-on with it, the police said.
The Manikandam police have registered a case.
