Four held, 7 stolen idols recovered

Four persons were arrested on Friday and seven idols stolen from Sri Agastheeswaraswamy Temple at Kabisthalam near Papanasam on January 23, were recovered from them.

A release here on Friday stated that a police team conducting vehicle checks at Kabisthalam bus stand intercepted a car. The behaviour of the occupants raised suspicion and they were detained for interrogation, which revealed that they were involved in the theft of idols from the temple.

The panchaloha idols are are 300 years old and worth Rs.12 lakh.

Those arrested are Arogya Stalin (26) of Ammanpettai, Syed Ibrahim (23 ) of Manojipatti near Thanjavur, Deivasagayam Stalin of Ammanpettai and Raj alias Ramasamy (26) of Ammanpettai.
