A demonstration on fire fighting techniques and the ways to rescue victims in times of emergency was conducted for the recruit second grade jail warders at the Central Prison campus here on Monday.

The nearly hour-long exercise was organised by the Fire and Rescue Services personnel involving the recruit jail warders undergoing training here. It was conducted as part of the Fire Service Week.

The ways of putting out fire caused by LPG cylinder leak and oil fire were demonstrated to the recruit jail warders by the fire fighters. The recruit warders were imparted hands-on training on the ways to rescue victims caught in a crisis situation.

The demonstration was conducted in the presence of Syed Mohamed Shah, Divisional Fire Officer, Tiruchi, and prison personnel.

Earlier in the day, the fire fighters organised a rally on fire prevention involving students of Seventh Day Adventist School. The rally started from the Tiruchi fire station and culminated at the same place passing via various places including Othakadai.
