Financial assistance given to artistes

Nine will get a monthly assistance of Rs.1,000

District Collector (in-charge) C. Munirathinam gave away cheques to nine indigent folk and theatre artistes belonging to Karur district here on Monday.

The nine artistes would get a monthly assistance of Rs.1,000 for the next eight months and the total for all of them amounting to Rs. 72,000 were given to the artistes.

In an effort to prevent global warming by creating a green cover in schools, two government higher secondary schools and two high schools were granted assistance of Rs. 25,000 each.

The Collector (in charge) gave away the amount to heads of the Government HSS, Rachandar Thirumalai and Palaviduthi, as also to two government high schools at Kavandampalayam and Jagadabi.

Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, S. Kavitha, Deputy Collector Arumugham, Backward Classes Welfare Officer Dasratha Ramasubramanian, Social Welfare Office Rajeswari, and others participated in the function.
