Work on the construction of State-of-the-art library block for the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University – Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute and the TNAU – Horticultural College and Research Institute for Women, has been in full swing.

The library, with a plinth area of 16,800 square feet, is being built on an area of 8,900 square feet on the ground floor and 7,900 square feet on the first floor. It will have a spacious reading hall on the ground floor with its ceiling open up to the first floor.

Sanctioned as part of infrastructure for the TNAU-Horticultural College and Research Institute for Women, the library will cater to the needs of the students of the TNAU-Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute and the other nearby colleges including the TNAU-Agricultural Engineering College.

M. Jawaharlal, Dean of TNAU Horticultural College and Research Institute for Women, said that the work, which was taken up at an estimate of Rs. 3.87 crore, was expected to be completed in three months.

The reading hall would have a centralised air-conditioned facility.

P. Pandiyarajan, Dean of the TNAU–Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute, said the institute’s library was housed in a less spacious building and the current building would cater to the needs of the students.

The Rs. 3.87-crore project is expected to be completed in three months
