Fan frenzy high as ‘Kabali’ hits screens

July 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - TIRUCHI:

It was ‘magizhchi’ all the way for the fans of ‘Superstar’ Rajnikanth as the much-awaited film ‘Kabali,’ hit the screens on Friday.

In Tiruchi city, the movie has released in LA Cinemas, Sona Mina Theatres, Rambha, Oorvasi, and Cauvery theatres. For the fans, the celebrations began early in the day with bursting of crackers and distribution of sweets.

The crowd kept swelling at the theatres and many fans wearing T-shirts emblazoned with images from ‘Kabali,’ danced to drum beats.

A gigantic cut-out of the actor erected at the Rambha theatre attracted the attention of passersby even as the fans were busy taking selfies in front of it. A fan sported a funky hairstyle, with the hair on the back of his head crafted to resemble Rajnikanth’s look in ‘Kabali.’

Some of the actor’s ardent fans performed ‘pujas’ for the success of the movie.

Just as the first show concluded, the fans awaiting their turn outside the hall eagerly sought feedback about the movie from those trooping out. The response they got sent them into raptures and a group of fans made their way into the cinema hall shouting “Neruppu da.”

However, fans in Perambalur were in for a disappointment as the film didn’t hit the screens in the town on Friday.

Theatre owners had deferred the release in the town as the district administration had reportedly instructed them not to jack up ticket prices.
