Enumeration of personnel stationed in five ships within the territorial waters of Nagore and Nagapattinam concluded, on Monday. Information as per the census requirement was obtained from the staff and workers employed in the ships anchored here. People living on the streets of tourist centres of Nagore and Velankanni were also brought under the enumeration process.
The district was segregated into 3,138 divisions for the census that commenced in the district on February 9. This is the phase II of the enumeration while phase I was carried out between June 1 and July 15, 2010.
Over 2,572 enumerators and 420 supervisors have been engaged for the process. Municipal commissioners and tahsildars were designated officers-incharge for municipal and rural areas.
Collector C. Munianathan, Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar, District Revenue Officer V. Rajendran, Port Officer Manekshaw, and Municipal Commissioner K. Sivakumar were on board during enumeration.
