A 10-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme was conducted here recently. The programme was organised by the Pudukottai branch of Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (Tamil Nadu), a training institution approved by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Tamil Nadu and Khadi and Village Industries Commission.

In his special address during the inaugural function, S. Prithiviraj, president, Small Scale Industries (SSI) Association of Pudukottai called upon the trainees to utilise the training to update their knowledge.

He requested them to utilise the services of SSI Association for redressal of their grievances. A total number of 21 trainees participated in the training programme during which they interacted with government officials, resource persons and successful entrepreneurs.

As part of the training programme, the trainees visited various types of industries in the SIPCOT Complex and SIDCO Estate at Pudukottai. The trainees were provided financial assistance ranging from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 25 lakh for starting coconut fibre and coir products, readymade garments, hotel, engineering works, bricks, cashewnut, processing and digital printing.

The valedictory function was held a few days ago during which the Lead District Manager, Pudukottai C. Sudhakar distributed certificates to all the trainees and requested them to start their ventures immediately. The participants could approach the lead bank for redressal of their grievances, he said.
