Ensure transparency in police administration, says DIG

Police officials should ensure transparency in administration for providing the real benefits to the needy persons, observed A.G. Pon Manickavel, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tiruchi Range.

Speaking after receiving petitions from the members of the public on grievances pertaining to various police stations, Mr. Pon Manickavel underlined the responsibility and role of police personnel in gaining the confidence of the members of the public.

He said that the police personnel should adhere to the norms stipulated by the Supreme Court in handling the accused persons. A well-designed schedule would bring about a greater efficiency in police administration. Prompt registration of cases, conduct of enquiry and a systematic plan for carrying out court-related responsibilities should be taken up at each and every station, he said.

He also suggested that sub-divisional level grievances meeting be held by the police officials for ensuring expeditious redressal of grievances of the needy.Mr.Pon Manickavel received petitions from a large number of members of the public on the occasion.
