Members of Tamilaga Eri Matrum Aatrupasana Vivasayigal Sangham staged a demonstration in front of the collectorate here on Thursday demanding, among other things, 12-hour power supply for farmers.

P.Viswanathan, State president of the association, also demanded that all crop loans be written off and they be given fertilizer free of cost.

As Karnataka is refusing to release water for Tamil Nadu despite being directed by the Cauvery River Authority and Cauvery Monitoring Committee to do so, the Central government should dismiss Karnataka government.

Besides, it should ensure supply of two tmcft (thousand million feet) every day to save samba crop.

In order to store rainwater, Tamil Nadu government should construct at least 1,000 tanks and erect barrages across rivers.

Besides, the rivers should be linked to the tanks, he pleaded.

He also opposed supply of electricity to Karnataka from Neyveli.
