The officials involved in the summary revision of poll rolls should not accept applications given in bunch for the enrolment of new voters. Applications presented in a proper format by individuals should be accepted after due verification, Swaran Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of SIPCOT and Election Commission observer, said.

He was speaking at the training programme for the designated polling officials of polling stations in the Tiruchi East and West Assembly constituencies at the collectorate here on Wednesday. A total of 254 designated polling officials have been nominated for the poll roll revision works in Tiruchi West Assembly constituency and 240 officials for the Tiruchi East constituency.

He urged the officials to take full advantage of the training programme for gaining full knowledge of the poll roll revision work and for preparing 100 per cent accurate poll rolls. Besides deleting the names of the voters who are dead and who have moved away to other places, steps should also be taken to make door-to-door survey of the voters.

Jayashree Muralidharan, District Collector, was also present.

Later, Mr.Swaran Singh inspected the training programmes being held at the Corporation premises and the Ariyamangalam zonal office premises. V.P.Thandapani, Corporation Commissioner, accompanied him.
