Emulate Tiruvannamalai model to achieve success

December 29, 2011 12:12 pm | Updated 12:12 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

The success of the ‘Deepam' festival celebrations at Tiruvannamalai was more often cited as a model for the arrangements to be taken for the forthcoming Vaikunta Ekadasi festival in Srirangam.

Officials, including J.Chandra Kumar, Commissioner for HR and CE, and Ministers who participated at a meeting held at the temple on Wednesday, referred to the various features of the ‘Tiruvannamalai model' and advised the district officials to adopt similar strategy in Srirangam.

M.S.M.Anandan, Minister for HR and CE, said that setting up women toilets was one such successful arrangements that went down well with devotees in Tiruvannamalai.

He also advised the Corporation Commissioner J. Veera Raghava Rao and joint director of Health Services T.Mohanasundaram, to supply breakfast and food to sanitary workers, doctors, and paramedical personnel as was provided to them in Tiruvannamalai.

“It would be hard for these personnel to come out of the temple and search for food,” the Minister reasoned out.
