Elderly man hacked to death; two injured

A 70-year-old farmer was hacked to death and his son and grandson suffered severe injuries after they were attacked by a group of persons due to land dispute at Uthamarseeli near here on Wednesday evening.

According to sources, there was a land dispute between the deceased Selladurai and his relative Ganapathy for so long.

It came to the fore when a clash erupted between the family members.

A group of supporters of Ganapathy allegedly attacked Selladurai, his son Sivakkannan (46) and grandson Parthiban (26) with deadly weapons.

While Selladurai died on the spot, others had been taken to hospitals in Srirangam and Tiruchi.

Selladurai’s body had been taken to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government hospital in Tiruchi for post mortem.

A case has been registered by Kollidam police.
