A three-day exhibition of products made by self help groups opened in the city on Friday with Collector Jayashree Muralidharan calling upon city residents to patronise SHGs by purchasing their eco-friendly and affordable products.
The exhibition, with 30 stalls, features a range of household items, food products, products for children, jewellery and garments.
Eco-friendly products such as plates made of areca nut leaves, jute bags, herbal products, home furnishing products, baby beds, soft toys, school lunch bags, kundan and imitation jewellery, handicrafts, palm leaf products, cotton saris and readymade garments are on display at the exhibition.
Ms.Muralidharan, who inaugurated the exhibition, said the products made by the SHGs were of good quality and affordable.
Products made by SHGs, which have been advanced credit through Mahalir Thittam, are on display at the fair being held at the Kalaiarangam campus. The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. till Sunday.
