Manjula Rangarajan, Divisional Railway Manager, inspected various facilities at Tiruvarur railway station. Later she told presspersons that the passenger train which leaves Bangalore at 7.15 a.m. will arrive at Salem at 12.50 p.m. It will leave Salem at 1 p.m. and will reach Nagore at 10 p.m. on July 1. During the return journey on July 2, the train will leave Nagore at 4 a.m. and reach Salem at 1.25 p.mand arrive at Bangalore by 7 p.m.
The Railway Board has already issued circulars on the extension of this passenger train up to Nagore, Mrs. Manjula Rangarajan said. The train will be operated via Vridhachalam Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai and Tiruvarur. Regarding the proposed weekly thrice Mannargudi -Tirupathi express announced in the Railway Budget, the DRM said that Railway Board has not issued any circular yet and once circular is received the train will be operated.
It may be recalled that Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways, T. R. Baalu had recently said that the Mannargudi -Tirupathi express will be operated from Mannargudi from July 1. Ms. Rangarajan inspected the canteen, retiring rooms, platforms, ticket issuing counters etc. Abdul Rahman, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, heads of various departments of Tiruchi Railway division accompanied Ms. Rangarajan.
Nagapattinam
Ms.Rangarajan conducted a familiarisation tour from Nagapattinam to Karaikal, on Wednesday.

Responding to the oft-stated complaint of letting goods trains from Karaikal Port pass ahead of passenger trains , Ms.Rangarajan acknowledged that priority was for passenger trains, however, revenue from goods trains was a significant consideration for the Railways.
