Draft poll rolls for Tiruchi district out

Rolls to be put up for verification at Tiruchirapalli city corporation’s main office, taluk offices, polling stations

The process of summary revision of the electoral rolls began with the publication of the draft electoral rolls of all the nine Assembly constituencies in the district on Tuesday. The summary revision will be taken up with January 1, 2014 as the qualifying date and youth who attain 18 on the day are eligible to be included in the voters’ list.

Applications for inclusion, deletion, and corrections will be received during the exercise. Persons above the age of 18, whose names are not in the rolls, can apply for inclusion in the relevant form. As of now, the nine Assembly constituencies in the district has 19,44,477 voters of which 9,65,414 are men, 9,78, 985 women, and 78 transgender. In terms of voter strength, Srirangam is the largest with 2,47,458 voters and Lalgudi the smallest with 1,85,847 voters. After releasing the draft rolls in the presence of representatives of political parties here, Collector Jayashree Muralidharan said the draft rolls would be put up for public verification at the main office of Tiruchi corporation, offices of the assistant commissioners of the corporation, all taluk offices, and at all polling stations.

Residents seeking to enrol their names in the list for the first time and those who have migrated from one Assembly constituency to another will have to apply for inclusion by submitting form 6. Non-resident Indians will have to submit form 6A and those who have changed residence within an Assembly constituency form 8A. Voters seeking corrections in name, age, gender, or relationship should submit form 8 and applications for deletion of names should be submitted in form 7. Applications could be had from Tiruchi corporation main office or the respective office of assistant commissioners of the corporation, and Revenue Divisional Officers till October 31. Filled-in applications should be submitted at the respective offices. Special camps would be organised across the district on October 6, 20 and 27 to receive the applications. Applications could also be filed online at: www.elections.tn.gov.in./eregistration

Officials would verify details of the applicants by visiting their houses.
