The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government has no scheme to eliminate poverty in the State, according to Panruti S. Ramachandran, presidium chairman of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK).
Price rise, unemployment and power cuts in the State had not only resulted in many people losing income but also affected their standard of living, Mr. Ramachandran told the media persons here on Sunday. The DMK government had only been offering freebies.
Charging that the DMK government had failed on all fronts, he said the people of the State had the power to change this trend. The DMDK represented the present generation and was keen to usher in new politics.
Stating that the party was prepared to face the electorate anytime, Mr. Ramachandran said the DMDK had appointed organisers in all the 234 Assembly constituencies to carry out field works.
Replying to a query on alliance, he said it would be decided during the time of elections. The party was in no hurry right now, he added.
Though there were many parties in the State, the DMDK emerged as an indispensable party today, he said.
