DMDK candidate, five others file papers

Sixteen candidates, including A.M.G. Vijaykumar of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam and P. Ravi of Aam Aadmi Party, filed their nomination papers for the Tiruchi Lok Sabha constituency on the last day of filing of nominations on Saturday.

Mr. Vijaykumar has declared movable assets worth Rs. 6.46 crore including Rs. 1.75 lakhs cash in hand; Rs. 2.88 lakhs in savings accounts and deposits; 46 vehicles including several tanker lorries totally worth Rs. 3.66 crore and Rs. 2.25 crore of business investments in various companies and firms.

His immovable assets were worth Rs.4.96 crore at current market value and has no pending cases against him. V. Chakravarthi filed his nomination as the DMDK dummy.

Mr. Ravi of the Aam Aadmi Party declared movable assets worth Rs. 42,364 including Rs. 26,500 in cash and a moped worth Rs.14,000. He has no immovable asset.

S. Sridevi, BJSP, K. Balakrishnan, Akhila Bharathiya Hindu Maha Sabha, and 11 Independents also filed their nominations papers.

As many as 37 candidates have filed their nominations for the constituency.

The nominations will be taken up scrutiny on April 7 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 9.
