Cadre of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) staged a demonstration here on Friday condemning the State government for its failure to reduce sales tax on petrol and diesel. Organised on the instruction of the party president, Vijayakant, the hour-long protest held near Anna statue at Chinthamani was led by the DMDK deputy secretary, A.R. Elangovan. The agitators demanded withdrawal of hike in sales tax on petrol and diesel. The party's urban district secretary R. Vijayarajan, north district secretary M. Natarajan, south district secretary S. Senthil Kumar and workers from various blocks in the district took part .
