A diesel locomotive hauling diesel power cars derailed at Tiruchi on Thursday.
Railway sources said the incident occurred around 7 p.m. when the diesel loco was on its way to the yard from the Golden Rock railway shed. A pair of wheels of the loco suddenly derailed, leading to its detention at the spot. Railway technical personnel attended to the derailment and the problem was set right after one-and-half-hours. As a result, the departure of the Tiruchi-Karaikudi passenger was delayed by about 20 minutes.
