A number of devotees offered worship to Sri Adhinayaga Perumal at Gopurapatti near Manachanallur on Monday, on the occasion of the anniversary of the ‘samprokshanam’ of the temple.

Devotees witnessed the ‘kalyana uthsavam’ held as part of the celebrations. Special ‘parayanam’ was performed by Vedic pandits led by R. Murali Bhattar.

Earlier on Sunday, a special ‘kho pujai’ was performed in which devotees offered worship to 108 cows, brought from different places. R. Nandakumar Bhattar said that the ‘kho pujai’ aimed at bringing about prosperity and universal happiness. Later in the evening, ‘Garuda sevai’ was performed.

Elaborate arrangements were made by the members of the Srirangam Sri Seva Samithi for the smooth conduct of the festival.

Sri Murali Bhattar said that the ‘samprokshanam’ was performed in 2010, after a gap of five centuries. According to epigraphic information, the ‘samprokshanam’ had been performed in 1342 AD and 1498 AD.
