Deputy Mayor produced before court

Days after a fresh land grab case was registered by the City Crime Branch (CCB) against Deputy Mayor M. Anbazhagan and K.N. Ramajeyam, brother of former State Transport Minister K.N. Nehru, the two were produced before a Judicial Magistrate court here on Wednesday.

Anbazhagan and Ramajeyam, already arrested in a land grab case registered last month, were brought from the Salem Central Prison and Palayamkottai Central Prison respectively and produced before Judicial Magistrate – V.

The two were remanded in judicial custody up to October 4 in the fresh land grab case that was registered on September 18 on a complaint lodged by P. Karunanithi of Erode. Later, they were taken back to the respective jails.

The former State Transport Minister K.N. Nehru already in jail on charges of land grabbing has also been cited as an accused in the fresh land grab case. Anbazhagan has also been cited as accused by the Gandhi Market police and arrested for allegedly attacking an AIADMK member's house in the city in September last year.
