The district administration has banned the entry of heavy and medium goods vehicles in Ariyalur during the day.
The heavy and medium goods vehicles will be allowed to enter Ariyalur between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m.
These vehicles transporting goods for Ariyalur town and arriving here in the day should be parked in the designated parking lot outside the town.
The goods should be transported from here to the business establishments in the town by light motor vehicles.
This new arrangement, to check traffic congestion in the town and ensure free traffic movement on the main thoroughfares, will come into force from July 7, according to a release of District Collector E. Saravanavelraj here on Wednesday said.
The district administration has regulated the movement of buses arriving at Ariyalur, following the implementation of the underground drainage scheme and the relaying of the Senthurai Road.
Under the new arrangement, the buses arriving at Ariyalur from Perambalur should take the Senthurai bypass and Kallankurichi bypass to reach the bus stand and this stretch will be made one way.
After the completion of the underground drainage scheme and Senthurai roadworks, the buses arriving from Perambalur will be diverted via Sriram School, Government Arts College, and Irusukuttai, the release added.
