CPI demands ESI hospital in Karur

September 30, 2013 11:23 am | Updated June 02, 2016 04:15 pm IST - KARUR:

Taking into account the phenomenal industrial development that had taken place over the decades in Karur district, the Centre must come forward to establish a 25-bed ESI Hospital in the town, the Communist Party of India (CPI) has said.

A resolution to the effect was passed at the CPI district committee meet here on Friday. Through another resolution the party urged the State Government to sanction a DVAC branch office for Karur to deal with bribery and illegal gratification cases in the district. Another resolution called up the Central and the State government to control price rise and eradicate corrupt practices in governmental activities. The governments must ensure that even the poorest daily wage worker gets Rs. 10,000 a month, the party demanded.

To press their demands, the party planned to hold “road roko” and demonstration in eight places across Karur district on October 5.

Committee member Hareendran presided over the meet in which district executive member Gunasekaran, district secretary Periyasamy and treasurer Rajendran participated.
