Sadhaya Vizha, coronation day celebrations of Chola king Raja Raja Cholan, who built the Big Temple here, will be held on October 28 and 29 at the temple, according to T. Selvam, Chairman of the Sadhaya Vizha committee.

Mr. Selvam told presspersons here on Monday that singing of tevaram hymns will be given importance during the festival as it was Raja Raja Cholan who retrived tevarams from the Dikshitars of Chidambaram. Tirumurais will be sung by Appar Avai members of Kalimedu village and P. Shanmugha Sundara Desikar and party on Wednesday. Abhishekams will be performed for deities Brahadeeshwara and Periyanayaki on Thursday.

“Mamannan Raja Rajan” awards will be presented to ‘Thanjai’ A. Ramamurthy, senior advocate, Pulavar Virudachalam, Founder of Na. Mu. Venkatasamy Nattar Arts College and Pulavar T. Manickam, retired Tamil teacher on Thursday.

Other important programmes are Innisai Pattu Mandram, Thamizhisai, Nagaichuvai Pattu Mandram, music programme by Malathi Lakshman, play back singer on Wednesday and Bharathanatyam by Poorna Prahathi on Thursday.

S.S. Palani Manickam, Union Minister of State for Finance, State Ministers Ko.Si. Mani and S.N.M. Ubayathullah will participate in the celebrations on Wednesday. Babaji Rajah Bhonsle, Senior Prince and hereditary trustee of the Palace Devasthanam, Sivaji, Assistant Commissioner, HR and CE were present at the press conference.
