Cooperative society records net profit of Rs. 20.44 lakh

The Tiruchi Corporation Sanitary Workers Cooperative Thrift Society recorded a net profit of Rs. 20.44 lakh during the year 2010-11.

The 95-year-old society has been functioning on its own funds from the beginning and has been registering profit continuously for the past many years.

It declared 14 per cent dividend to its members, G. Rajkumar said while addressing the general body meeting of the society held here recently.

The society accounting for 1,352 members and with a share capital of Rs. 86.56 lakh, has extended loan to the tune of Rs. 2.58 crore to its members.

It also provided nine per cent interest for the saving deposit.

The Society has deposited a sum of Rs. 7.19 lakh in other cooperative bodies, he added.

M. Kanagasabathi, special officer of the Tiruchi District Cooperative Union, K. K. Selvaraj, cooperative sub-registrar and others spoke.

Neela Muthusamy, who had made maximum deposit with the society, was honoured on the occasion.
