Construction workers have requested Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to issue necessary instructions to clear applications pending with the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board seeking financial assistance for their various commitments and pension for them.

A group of workers attached to the Tamil Nadu AITUC Construction Workers Union, affiliated to the Communist Party of India, sent letters from the Head Post Office here to the Chief Minister seeking her intervention on this issue.

The workers had applied to the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board seeking education and marriage assistance as well as assistance for accident and natural death besides pension.

The CPI district assistant secretary P.Veerasamy, city secretary K.Suresh and party representatives were present.
