The Communist Party of India (CPI) has urged the Tiruchirapalli City Corporation to take steps to construct a bigger vegetable market in Woraiyur here and create basic facilities.

The existing narrow vegetable market at the 59 ward is causing inconvenience to the people. The civic body should construct a bigger market and create drinking water and toilet facilities, and a two-wheeler parking lot. The party also urged the civic body to improve facilities at the public hospital functioning at the 59 ward including sufficient beds and round-the-clock medical facilities.

Upgrading the corporation middle school at Pandamangalam north into a high school, renovation of damaged roads in North and South Eda streets, Gandhipuram Devar colony and Sevvanthi Pillaiyar Koil streets in the 55 ward before the onset of monsoon, and construction of a district branch library at Puthur were among their other demands.
