Congress cadre in Tiruchi and its neighbouring districts staged demonstrations on Wednesday condemning the increase in power tariff.

The demonstration in the city was led by the Tiruchi District Congress Committee (urban) president G. Jerome Arokiaraj.

The party said the 15 per cent increase in power tariff would severely hit all sections of the society.

The demonstrators wanted the State government to immediately withdraw the hike in power tariff. Similar stir were also organised at Perambalur and Ariyalur districts.
