A cleanliness campaign was conducted at Tiruchi Junction on Thursday during which pamphlets were distributed to rail travellers.

R.Soundararajan, Chief Medical Superintendent, Railway Hospital, Golden Rock, inaugurated the campaign in which health officers, health inspectors, staff of railway health department and Scout volunteers participated.

Pamphlets were distributed to the passengers of Chennai-bound Vaigai express and Tiruchi – Chennai Egmore Cholan express as well as to passengers waiting at the station.

Banners, posters and placards highlighting the importance of keeping the station premises and trains clean were displayed.

The campaign also covered the new rule – “Indian Railways (Penalties for activities affecting cleanliness at railway premises) Rules 2012” which was in force to ensure cleanliness at railway premises, a Southern Railway press release here said.
