EmployabilityBridge, a company that serves as a facilitator for corporates and educational institutions, and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will hold a recruitment drive in Tiruchi on April 18.
The 38{+t}{+h}recruitment drive of the company, since its launch in 2011, will be held at Shivani Engineering College.
R.A.Krishnakumar, Chairman, CII, Tiruchi zone, and Emmanuel Justus, Chief Executive Officer, EmployabilityBridge, told reporters here on Tuesday, there was a need to demonstrate the availability of qualified and employable candidates in tier II and III cities. There was no dearth of good candidates in cities such as Tiruchi, Madurai, and Salem. However, awareness level about job opportunities has been poor in tier II and III cities. The programme, christened FLAG 2015, will provide good opportunity for engineering students to showcase their talent before leading recruiters.
Mr.Justus said over 3,500 students had been recruited since the launch of FLAG in 2011. A clear message had been sent to the corporate world that students from tier II & III cities were on a par with the students of premier institutes in terms of skills. In many ways, candidates from these small towns and cities add value to the companies. Educational institutions could utilise the opportunity, he said.
Mr.Krishnakumar said that India's higher education system was the third largest in the world after China and the United States. Among the Indian States, Tamil Nadu was one of the most literate States with 80.3% literacy as per 2011 Census.
Tiruchi has been one of the important educational hubs in the State and it boasts many reputed educational institutions, some even centuries old.
These institutions could reach even greater heights if the students were exposed to better employment opportunities in good companies. After completing higher studies, students were clueless about their career. They were confused whether to pursue their dream or settle with jobs available locally.
This is where an initiative like FLAG could play a role in helping students from tier II and III cities, Mr.Krishnakumar said. S.Sampath, vice-chairman, CII, Tiruchi Zone, said representatives of companies such as HCL, OneGlobe, Barry Wehmiller Ziffty and Hindustan Consultancy Technologies would take part in FLAG 2015. There were openings for 600 positions.
