Students of the Srirangam Girls Higher Secondary School and children at an Anganwadi centre in Srirangam got a taste of the new menu introduced in the noon meal scheme by the State government, under which 13 varieties of dishes are to be served to them.

District Collector Jayashree Muralidharan inaugurated the supply of the new fare to students partaking the noon meal at Srirangam. Speaking on the occasion, she pointed out that the Chief Minister has ordered serving of 13 varieties of rice such as vegetable pulao, tomato rice, sambar rice, coriander rice and masala, and peppered eggs.

All noon meal organisers and cooks in the district have already been trained in preparing the dishes by Chef Damu. Necessary equipment including mixies are to be supplied to all noon meal centres in the district.
