May 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - TIRUCHI:

Collector K.S.Palanisamy has instructed officials of the Tiruchi Corporation, municipalities and town panchayats to take steps to check the use of banned carry bags made of plastic below 40 microns in thickness.

Speaking at a consultative meeting with officials of the local bodies here recently, he said carry bags were found to be used widely.

Officials should check the use of such carry bags at these places. Officials should ensure that such carry bags were not used in tourist spots and temples. Measures should be taken to sensitise people against the use of such plastic bags, he said and added that all schools should ban the use of plastic carry bags.
