A Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and New Born Care (CEmONC) centre is being constructed on the Government Headquarters Hospital premises in Perambalur.

The three-storied centre will be equipped with all necessary facilities and equipment required for maternity and child healthcare.

The 100-bed centre will also have a Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit. The centre will be an addition to the Perambalur Government Hospital. Construction work of the centre is being executed at a cost of nearly Rs.5 crore.

The CEmONC centre will have several facilities, including operation theatre, post-operative wards, ante-natal, natal and post-natal care facilities, and infertility clinic. It will also have incubator, ventilator, and warmers.

The new centre is being constructed to cater to the needs of maternity patients coming from different parts of Perambalur district and even those coming from border areas of neighbouring Cuddalore and Salem districts.

The total bed strength of the Perambalur Government Hospital will increase to 326 once the CEmONC centre is commissioned. The Government Hospital has been additionally provided with seven super speciality doctors, 23 specialists and 31 nurses.

In order to provide food at affordable cost for the patients and their attendants, an Amma Unavagam is being set up on the hospital premises.

Construction of a building to house the canteen is apace at the hospital equipped with various medical facilities.
