As part of Corporate Social Responsibility activities, the Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL) organised a veterinary camp at Thavittupalayam village in Nanjai Pugalur panchyat of Karur district on Thursday.
TNPL Assistant General Manager (Human Resources) S. Ramamoorthy and Joint Director of Animal Husbandry P. Sakthivel inaugurated the camp in the presence of Nanjai Pugalur Panchayat president Mallika Kandhasamy.
A seven-member team of veterinarians from the Department of Animal Husbandry and the TANUVAS Veterinary Training Institute, Karur, screened 41 cows, 22 buffaloes, 141 goats and sheep, four birds and eight dogs. Treatment including de-worming medicines, vaccination for foot and mouth disease, vaccination for sheep and goats, general treatment for wound cases, anoestrum for cattle and artificial insemination for cows and buffaloes were done at the camp.
The TNPL organises veterinary camp once in two months to benefit the villagers in the eight panchayats adjoining the Kagithapuram factory. It also supplies mineral mixture for the cattle free of cost.
