Motivation undoubtedly plays a vital role in the success of a person. For H. Divyashree of Zamindar Higher Secondary School in Thuraiyur, the cash prize of Rs.1 lakh promised by her grandfather was one of the motivating factors to get a State rank. She did not disappoint the expectation of R. Dharmalingam, a retired TNSTC employee and her parents - Hari Jeyaram and Subalakshmi. Divyashree went the extra mile to work hard so as to fulfil the expectation of them. Now, the hard work has paid the expected dividend. The moment she came to know that she had secured State level second rank with 498 marks, Mr. Dharmalingam rushed to her house to hand over the reward. “No one from my family has done exceedingly well in studies. Hence, I promised cash prize of Rs.1 lakh to those securing State rank from my family in order to motivate them. I feel happy that she has risen to the occasion to receive the reward. I can not expect a happy occasion other than this,” Mr. Dharmalingam said.

Dhivyashree said she the cash prize alone was not the motivation to work for the State rank. Parents and teachers had been on her side right from the start of academic year to achieve success. Moreover, it was her determination that made her to score high marks.

Headmaster happy

Expressing happiness over the Zamindar HS School, a Government aided school, producing State rank, its Head Master S. Jayaraman said the results would motivate that government aided schools could produce State rank holders too.
