Car rally to promote motor sports

In its constant initiative to promote motor sports in the city, the ‘The Aura’ – a Tiruchi based forum for women and the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited jointly organised a car rally here on Sunday.

The event named “Speed Fastrak16” saw the participation of 65 cars in the TSD (Time Speed and Distance) car rally conducted for the seventh time in the city by The Aura.

The Madras Motor Sports Club, Chennai coordinated and conducted the 60 kilometre TSD rally that was flagged off by noted film personality Raja Krishnamurthy.

Ahead of the rally, the participants were given instructions to handle the tulip charts, speed chart, time controls and questionnaire.

The rally followed the TSD format and had a driver, a navigator and a passenger in the car.

The cars were flagged off at one minute interval.

The cars were given the docket containing the instructions as to the direction and distance to be covered in the specified time and the speed of travel.

There were 10 Marshall points to capture the time of the passing of the cars.

There were four categories: Novice, Eve’s on Wheels, Fun Wagon and Bridge Builders in the rally.
