Canara Bank hopes better services net more CASA funds

e-lounge offers ATM, cash deposit, cheque deposit and passbook printing services

Canara Bank will strengthen its current account and savings bank accounts by mobilising deposits from the customers.

The bank has taken steps to provide services through insurance and health insurance schemes, said V.S. Krishnakumar, its executive director.

Speaking after inaugurating the bank’s e-lounge unit near the central bus stand on Saturday, he said the bank had been launching awareness programmes to sensitise the masses to the importance of health insurance scheme. The bank ensured health care facility to the needy at the Apollo Hospitals. Mr. Krishnakumar said the e-lounge would offer services such as automated teller machine (ATM), cash deposit facility, cheque deposit unit and passbook printing kiosks.

Mr. Krishnakumar inaugurated the bank’s branches at Orathanadu in Thanjavur district, Sirkazhi in Nagapattinam district, and Tittakudi in Cuddalore district.

S. Krishnakumar, general manager of the bank’s Tiruchi circle, said the circle had jurisdiction over 11 districts and the branch in Orathanadu ranked 174th, Sirkazhi 175th, and Tittakudi 176th in the circle. He said the branch at Orathanadu would provide on-campus ATM service while similar facility would be provided at the other two hospitals in a few days.

New branches

It has been planned to open 30 branches in 11 districts in the circle this financial year in a phased manner, commencing from three branches in the first phase on Saturday.
