'Civic body has intensified preventive measures'
Tiruchi Corporation in association with voluntary organisations launched a campaign on Tuesday to sensitise city residents to dengue and the preventive measures to be taken to check breeding of the dengue causing mosquito aedes aegypti.
Corporation Commissioner V.P.Thandapani distributed pamphlets detailing symptoms of dengue and the preventive measures in front of the Rajagopuram in Srirangam at a programme organised jointly by the civic body, Indian Red Cross Society, and Students Exnora.
In a release issued later, Mr.Thandapani said the civic body has intensified preventive measures in the city and appealed to the people to keep their drinking water containers closed.
City residents could contact corporation officials for preventive measures in specific areas by dialling the following telephone numbers: Srirangam zone – 7639511000; Ariyamangalam zone – 7639522000; Golden Rock zone – 7639533000; and K.Abishekapuram zone – 7639544000. If no action was initiated on their reports within two days, residents could contact the corporation main office by dialling 7639566000 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
