To motivate people to donate blood voluntarily and regularly, a blood donation camp was held at the Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital attached to the K.A.P.Viswanatham Medical College, marking World Blood Donors Day.

The event commemorated worldwide on June 14 aims to create awareness of need for voluntary blood donation and safe transfusion.

This year's theme ‘every blood donor is a hero', was built on the premise all donors are unsung heroes as they are life-savers.

Collector Jayashree Muralidharan inaugurated the special camp. A.Karthikeyan, Dean, was present. Three students, including two medical students kicked off the camp, by donating blood at the centre.

Donors would be given certificates in recognition of their contribution. Anyone can walk into the blood bank at the government centre where collection is done between 8 a.m and 4 p.m.
