Judicial Magistrate – I Gowdhaman here on Tuesday directed the police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against AIADMK Tiruchi MP P. Kumar and party cadres in connection with the attack on the Congress urban district unit office here in August 2015.

He issued an order directing the Fort Police to book a case against Mr. Kumar on a petition filed by the Congress party south district president R.C. Babu.

AIADMK cadres hurled stones and eggs at the Congress district unit office at Main Guard Gate condemning the remarks made by the TNCC president E.V.K.S. Elangovan on the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Glass panes of the Congress office were damaged. Many AIADMK members including the party’s Tiruchi MP P. Kumar were arrested. Mr. Babu had lodged a complaint with the Fort Police demanding that a FIR be filed against MP Kumar. Since FIR was not filed, he filed a petition in the Judicial Magistrate – I Court here in September 2015.
