Attacking the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president B.S. Gnanadesikan on Wednesday alleged that the two Dravidian parties had been plundering the State competing with one another.
Campaigning for the party’s Tiruchi Lok Sabha constituency candidate R. Sarubala Tondaiman in Srirangam here, Mr. Gnanadesikan said the 2014 Lok Sabha election was a contest between the secular and the communal forces.
Hitting out at the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mr. Gnanadesikan alleged that it was indulging in divisive politics. It was only the Congress which could ensure security, peace, communal amity,and development of all sectors, he claimed. He dubbed the BJP-MDMK-PMK- DMDK rainbow alliance as a bunch of confused minds.
Mr. Gnanadesikan said the Congress was keeping development agenda as its main poll plank and listing the achievements of the 10-year Congress-led United Progressive Alliance rule while garnering support for the Congress candidates.
Highlighting some of the achievements of the UPA rule, he said it had brought in the Right to Information Act, Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, National Food Security Act, and disbursement of educational loans to students among others.
The TNCC president was accompanied by Tiruchi Lok Sabha constituency candidate, party urban district president G. Jerome Arokiaraj, and party functionaries.
