The brutal murder of BJP State general secretary V. Ramesh in Salem on Friday night triggered protests in the district with the party functionaries resorting to road roko in different places on Saturday.
Condemning the heinous crime and demanding the arrest of the culprits involved in the murder, BJP functionaries staged road rokos for sometime at Kollidam Tollgate, Thuraiyur, Manapparai, and Musiri. They were arrested by the police.
In the city, a group of party members headed by BJP state secretary M. Subramaniam were arrested at Chinthamani when they indulged in road roko.
Those arrested were later released in the evening.
